YLI May Youth Meeting - Environmental Project

Please join the YLI Youth as they participate in their youth-led group environment project at the Duluth Library. They will be upcycling old/unwanted clothing & shoes and also donating clothing & shoes to Soles4Souls.

- Upcycling clothing involves cutting, sewing, and/or adding new embellishments to old or unwanted garments turning them into a one-of-a-kind piece that is both fashionable and sustainable. Upcycling minimizes the volume of waste sent to landfills each year and reduces CO2 emissions by extending the lifespan of materials. It also reduces the need for producing new or raw materials, which decreases the amount of air pollution, water pollution, and greenhouse gasses.
- The clothes and shoes the youth leaders do not upcycle will be donated to Soles4Souls, a nonprofit who cares for the planet and for people by extending the life of shoes and clothing by keeping them from going to waste and putting them to good use – providing relief, creating jobs and empowering people to break the cycle of poverty.
